New work, new website, new studio!

Derby based artist and illustrator Martin Hyde, who has an MA with distinction and was a finalist in the Europrix Top Talent Award held in Vienna in 2004, has had a busy start to 2008. After spending the first few months of the year developing two new series of illustrations – children’s characters ‘Dead Good Kids’, and space based cartoon strip ‘We Come In Peace’, there have been a number of exciting developments. There has been considerable interest in the ‘Dead Good Kids’, a series of character-based illustrations originally designed for Martin’s son, which seem to have taken on a life of their own. Martin is currently in talks with a London based film production company about the possibility of a Dead Good Kids film and cartoon series, and the idea was pitched widely at the recent Cannes Film Festival.

In addition to this, Martin has been adding new artwork to his brand new website for his art and illustration work. The new website, which has just been launched, enables Martin to get his work out into the public domain very quickly, as it acts like on online gallery displaying work and enabling viewers to purchase prints of pieces they like.

Martin has also just moved studio’s within creative incubator Banks’ Mill where he is based, from 1.3 to 2.7.

“I am really excited by the move” said Martin. It has given me bags of inspiration, due to the great light and panoramic views from the new studio”. “I am looking forward to showing off my new space, and my new work, at the forthcoming Banks’ Mill Open Studio’s in June”.
