About

Martin Hyde is an artist and illustrator based in Derby in the UK, whose gothic tinged artworks include the Dead Good Kids brand, the We Come In Peace series, and the Hair Days series. Martins’ website is full of his art, illustration, characters and cartoons. If you are interested in commissioning Martin, or licensing an art work or design, please get in contact.

Illustration

All Martins’ illustrations start life in a sketchbook, and are hand drawn using pencil and pen. The artwork is then scanned into a Mac and redrawn digitally, creating a very clean style of illustration.

Martin’s illustrations are influenced by his love of alternative music and films. Horror films have always been a passion of Martins’, and elements from this film genre can be seen in his illustration work.

Much of Martins’ illustration work is related to his ‘Dead Good Kids’ children’s brand, ‘We Come in Peace’ cartoon series and his other personal projects. He has also done commercial illustration work for numerous clients in a wide variety of formats, e.g. record sleeves, fashion accessories etc.

Fine Art

Martins’ work mixes various techniques that he has developed, to create detailed and aesthetic pieces, which are highly stylised and unique. The fusion of his technique and his eccentric vision allow him to create some truly fresh art. Ideas are initially sketched on paper then transferred to a Mac, at which point Martin uses a graphics tablet to digitally draw and paint the artwork. The work is very personal to him, representing the different sides of his personality and his gothic tinged view of the world.

Martin’s fine art works are exhibited throughout the UK in various different types of venues. Keep an eye of the news section for details of new exhibitions.
